Founded in January 2006 by industry veteran Bill Thomas, P.E., TEI provides clients with unbiased energy consulting, procurement services, and contract negotiation for competitive retail electric energy contracts. We also provide a 4CP Advisory Service that enables larger customers to avoid the ERCOT system peak during the summer months, thus saving demand costs in the following year. TEI will also assist our customers with the coordination of new or expanding electric utility services. TEI manages a diverse client portfolio that includes agribusiness, industrials, port authorities, municipals, oil and gas, and retail fast food. Based in Corpus Christi, Texas, TEI is positioned to serve the entire ERCOT market.
James W. “Bill” Thomas, P.E. has 42 years of experience in the electric utility business in Texas. Thomas spent 19 years with Central Power and Light/American Electric Power before joining TXU Energy when the electric market was deregulated in 2001. After gaining extensive experience in the competitive ERCOT electric market, Thomas formed Thomas Engineering, Inc. in 2006. A 1981 graduate of Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Engineering, Thomas is a member of the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers and the National and Texas Society of Professional Engineers. Thomas is a former member of the Agricultural Engineering External Advisory Council at Texas A&M. Thomas Engineering was recognized as an Aggie 100 awardee in 2016, one of the fastest growing Aggie owned businesses in the world.
